The Outrage’s DC Primary Election Guide 2022


Key Dates + Deadlines:

  • May 16th – DCBOE begins sending mail-in ballots to all registered voters
  • May 27th – Mail Ballot Drop Boxes open
  • May 31st – Deadline to update voter registration with party affiliation
  • June 6th – Deadline to request Absentee Ballot
  • June 10th - June 19th – Early Voting period
  • June 21st – Primary Election Day
  • June 28th – Deadline for DCBOE to receive voted Absentee Ballots
  • November 8th – General Election

Ways to Cast Your Vote:

  • Election Day: 
    • Tuesday, June 21
    • Voters may cast their ballots at ANY VOTE CENTER regardless of their residential address 
  • Early Voting:
    • June 10 to June 19th
    • Note: centers are closed on June 20th in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday
  • Mail-In Ballots
    • May 27th to June 21st
    • Mail ballot drop boxes will be distributed to 55 locations throughout the District and will be open to voters starting May 27th.
    • Voters will be able to return their voted mail-in ballots via USPS, to any mail ballot drop box location, or in-person at any vote center during the Early Voting period or on Election Day.
    • They must be submitted byl 8:00 p.m. on June 21.
  • Absentee Ballots:
    • DCBOE is mailing all registered DC voters a mail-in ballot, so you only need to request an Absentee Ballot if you will be away from your DC residence during the 2022 Primary Election.
